Room Assignments

NOTE ABOUT ROOM ASSIGNMENTS: We can't assign new characters a room until we're finished with acceptances. Once we're done with those, we go straight here and start randomizing inhabitants. To help this move easier and quicker, we'd like to ask for your patience until we're done with said mixing. IF for whatever reason you still don't have a room after a day, then feel free to come up to us! Also, please make sure you responded to your acceptance comment with the character journal, and double check to make sure your character doesn't have a room already!

HOW ROOMS WORK:
Until your character has earned enough money to move into the Apartments, we will not be taking requests to officially room two characters together. We have no problem with Character A bumming/sharing with Character B, and will even make a note on the room list stating that that is what they are doing if you request it. PLEASE NOTE THOUGH: When Character A is bumming with Character B, that means that they are sharing a very tiny bedroom. The mods will not deliberately move Character A permanently if Character B's cabin just happens to have an empty room. All room assignments for the Stowaways, Deckswabbers, and Condos are made at random, and they will continue to be so in order to promote CR between characters who might not interact at all, otherwise.

I just have one question regarding the room assignments. If we were to want to set up a new location of residence on the Thor, such as the Avengers Mansion, New Gensokyo, etc, where exactly would we put in an application to request a new location like that?

Hey! Sorry about the time it took to get back to you. This required a bit of discussion.

At the moment, this comes up infrequently enough that we have not yet made an official form for requesting new housing locations. As long as the new location is plausible (the character has saved up enough money to build a Rainbow Rumpus Party Tower; they're moving into the ship they brought along with them; someone was living there before but they dropped; you get the picture), all you need to do is request the move on our Promotions post. And, naturally, giving us your reasoning is always a good idea.

If the location is particularly outlandish (such as another pocket dimension a la New Gensokyo), we'd appreciate contacting the mod team directly about the idea. It gives us more time for discussion before we sign off on anything.

At some point, we do plan on establishing a clear-cut application system, like we have for character businesses.

Ryuuji's up for a promotion this month but I was wondering how rooming with other characters worked who have a higher level wage?

I was wondering if Otogi could be roomed with Pegasus J Crawford (who is being promoted to the apartments this month). If I'm reading all of what it said at the top of this page correctly that falls under bumming since Otogi's wages aren't the same as Pegasus' right?

Bumming has never been very rigidly defined - generally, if a character is making enough money to be able to contribute to rent, then they're not bumming. Basically it's up to the player whether or not their character is bumming or contributing. If you'd like Ryuuji to be listed as bumming, we can do that! If he's contributing to rent, then he's not. :)
