IC:

Character name: Jet
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Timeline: 2.07 - right before his death blow.
Age: 16
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: No magic here.
How would they use their abilities?: N/A
Appearance: Jet’s pretty tall. He has scruffy brown hair, tanned skin and is slightly muscular, a rough-looking teenage boy in ragtag armor.
Background/Personality:

Jet’s personality is one of twists and turns as the series progresses. When he’s first seen, in episode ten of the first season, he’s proven to be very charismatic. He knows how to get what he wants, particularly from Katara and Aang. Even against Sokka’s warnings he still seems to win them over by glorifying whatever plan he has, in the case of that episode he planned on flooding a village along with its harmless citizens. He insisted that they were sacrifices required to clear the area of the Fire Nation – who controlled the city. Katara doesn’t learn this until the end, where it would have been too late had it not been for Sokka.

It becomes clear of Jet’s wrath and paranoia for the Fire Nation and anyone associated with it. This is later displayed towards the end of season two when he meets Zuko as a refugee, both looking to start a new life. The instant Jet sees Iroh heat his tea he becomes obsessive over it, stalking the pair for any further evidence that would let the public know they were firebenders. He watches them day in and day out to the point where what’s left of his companions, Smellerbee and Longshot, become deeply concerned for him. He lashes out on Zuko and in turn, gets arrested and brainwashed that there’s no war.

Jet’s also a very good leader, despite his manipulative behavior. He knows how to keep those around him motivated, even though his original group had lost their homes and families to the Fire Nation. He’s also coordinated – this is also shown mostly through his first appearance. He claims he waited all day for a distraction to ambush the Fire Nation soldiers, he knows what to do with the goods they take, and even plans in advance how to wipe out the dam. All of which are successful, though in the end they don’t all get the results he’d hoped for.

It may be from his deceitful behavior, but Jet’s also generally good at hiding his feelings. Not once does he express his deep hatred for the Fire Nation until the end of his first appearance. By the second time he comes around, after he gets his memory erased, it becomes clear how much hurt and anguish he’s suffered in his lifetime. When he starts getting some recollection back he claims he doesn’t want to, that it hurts too much to do so. It all seems to hit him at once, but by this point his obsession isn’t on Zuko or Iroh. Instead, he focuses on helping Aang find Appa.

Background: Not much is known about Jet’s past. All that’s specified is that he watched his village, along with his parents, burn during a Fire Nation raid. A group known as the Rough Rhinos is shown to be the cause of the brutal attack and this is what ultimately triggers his hatred for the Fire Nation. It makes him a more complex character to understand, as his hate and vengeance seem to be his initial drive in the series-- to the degree they become very unhealthy and obsessive.

The first time we see Jet in action, it is specified that h is the leader of a group of Fire Nation rebels, the ‘Freedom Fighters’. They’re a group of kids who have been left with nothing at fault of the Fire Nation, and so they plot against them however Jet instructs them to. When he meets Aang and the others, he and some of his group had been waiting a majority of the day to attack a group of Fire Nation soldiers that had set up camp in their forest. With Aang, Katara and Sokka as a distraction, he and the others attack and ultimately defeat the group of about twenty men, Jet taking most of them out on his own. Jet then instructs them on what to take back from the camp and tells Katara that if they’re interested, they can come to. From the start, Sokka is the only one who doesn’t trust him.

When they get back, Jet hosts a feast, giving a toast to the accomplishments of the day. Everyone, in turn, cheers him on and he starts a conversation with Katara – who obviously has a crush on him. He praises her and Aang for their work and asks for their help on a future task and to this, Sokka claims they’re leaving…until Jet says he needs Sokka for an important mission. The next day they go out and wait in the trees for someone to come. Soon enough an elderly old man passes through, and Jet would have ended up almost brutally attacking him, had it not been for Sokka. He them explains to Katara that there was a knife filled with poison, and clearly the old man was sent to assassinate him – which only emphasizes his paranoia. Its clear Jet planted the knife, but Katara refuses to believe it and so they stay even longer.

When Sokka figures out Jet’s plan to wipe out the village by breaking the dam (by the means of spying) , Jet has him taken away by Smellerbee and Pipsqueak. He then asks Katara and Aang to bend the water into the river, but doesn’t explain that he’s going to break the dam. By the time they figure it out its too late and Jet breaks out into a battle with Aang. The results end up being Katara freezing him to a tree, but he’s still able to make the bird call and initiate the dam being blown up. Sokka then comes back with Appa and lets them know he warned the village and got it evacuated. Hesitantly, Katara leaves with the others and Jet’s still frozen to the tree.

We don’t see Jet again until well over a season passes. By now he’s a refugee in Ba Sing Se, starting a new life with only Longshot and Smellerbee. He runs into Zuko on the boat ride over to the city, who now goes under the alias ‘Lee’. Together, Zuko and Jet manage to steal good food for themselves and others left with scraps to eat, and when they dock Jet even asks him if he’d like to join the Freedom Fighters. Zuko declines and it’s then that Jet witnesses Iroh heating up his tea through discrete firebending. This starts his obsession all over again – where he goes as far as to stalk the pair in hopes of catching evidence that will prove to the public they’re firebenders.

Smellerbee and Longshot both grow concerned with Jet and say he’s going back to his old ways. They want to start fresh and get him away from the situation he’s creating for himself but he refuses and ends up walking straight into the teashop where Zuko and Iroh work, swords drawn, ready to force them into firebending. The two end up on street fighting with dual swords until Jet gets dragged away, arrested for harassing the two and damaging the tea shop.

However, he’s taken under Lake Laogi, where a Dai Li soldier proceeds to hypnotize him. He repeats that the war doesn’t exist within the city walls and circulating a glowing orb around to execute the hypnosis. The words that trigger him to be a fighting zombie-like being are “The Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogi”, though this isn’t clarified until later.

After being hypnotized, all Jet’s memories that are associated with the war seem to have been cleared. He is, however, still able to remember Aang, Katara, Sokka and Appa, and even seeks them out to help find Appa. This is around the point he is taken from

Why should that character be in this game: N/A

Why do you want to continue their history here: N/A

For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play: N/A

Have you read up on how the game works?: Yes

1st person sample:
[The feed clicks on to a semi-unaware Jet. He’d been trying to figure the device out before but given up, not realizing he was live.]

Wha- where am I?

[He lets out a light growl, calming down once he realizes how aggressive he sounds. Long Feng, he almost had him!]

Hey, is this thing on? Whoever can hear me, tell me what the deal is and where I just woke up.

[Because this definitely wasn’t Lake Laogi.]

…I just need to know what happened. If you can.

3rd person sample:
Jet wasn’t sure how long he’d been out, or even when he’d passed out, but that didn’t seem to be the main question for him. Where were Longshot and Smellerbee? What about the others? He knew they were in the city – but this wasn’t exactly the city, was it?

It irked him, all the small noises and the off setting. Was this a plot of the Fire Nation? Their sick way of capturing him? Maybe they planned on his death. It brought a smirk to his face, if that was actually the case they’d better have some more tricks up their sleeves. He wondered when this horizon ended, and how they could manage to pull off such a façade, but the end of his lip couldn’t help but twitch every few steps. He needed something to chew on, something to distract him, his doubt started to wear on him with each onward step.

“Come out, come out, wherever you are.” He whispered it so softly he could barely hear himself. His throat was dry; he wasn’t actually worked up or anything. They were good, he’d give them that, but Jet certainly wasn’t scared right now. He drew his swords from his back, just so he’d be prepared. There was no other reasoning behind it, Jet just liked to be ready.

His eyes scanned, surveying the area again, but nothing seemed to give him hope. Still, he’d wander down the street of worn-down makeshift houses until he reached the end, or at least figured out this trap the Fire Nation had set him in.

Questions?: Nope!
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Yes :3
